Cinekid's TV and Film Awards Winners Revealed

During the Cinekid Festival in Amsterdam, the jury and audience awards for the best youth TV productions and children's films of 2017 were presented. The international jury proclaimed Wallay, a coming-of-age film by Swiss director Berni Goldblat, Best Children's Film. The film The Day My Father Became a Bush by director Nicole van Kilsdonk won the Cinekid Lion for Best Dutch Family Film.

The audience award for Best Children's Film went to the Finnish documentary Hobbyhorse Revolution by director Selma Vilhunen. The audience award for Best Dutch Family Film was conferred to director Tessa Schram's 100% Coco.

The jury granted the Gouden Cinekid Kinderkast for Best Dutch Television Production to I am Dutch, a programme by Dirk Eijsbouts and Jack Wouterse. The Cinekid Kinderkast for Best Dutch Non-Fiction Television Production was presented to director Marijn Frank for her documentary A Butcher's Heart. The TV series Zenith, from directors Maurice Trouwborst and Tomas Kaan, triumphed in the Fiction category.

As usual, the audience awards for the Cinekid Kinderkast were subdivided into two age categories. In the category 4-6 years old, the animation series George & Paul by directors Erik Verkerk and Joost van den Bosch came out on top. Hello, I Have Cancer, a non-fiction series from the broadcaster EO, won in the category 6-12 years old.
